As one of the four major national standards, National Standard for Classification of Regional Drought Severity (GB/T32135-2015) Edited by IWHR was officially published in Beijing by National Standard Management Committee on October 13, 2015.

This Standard is built to provide the four administrative levels, namely national, provincial, municipal and county level, with unified, simple, fast and efficient standard tools to evaluate the regional drought severity by stipulating the specific steps, indicators and classification for the evaluation of droughts in agriculture, pasture and municipalities and the subsequent difficulty in water drinking as well as the comprehensive droughts. It will be of great significance for improving the skill and efficiency of regional drought evaluation, rationalizing the resource allocation for drought resistance and enhancing the decision making and management of government at all levels.
