Time: 2015-07-24 | Hits:

IWHR and Jilin Provincial Water Resources Institute have worked together on the demonstration of ecological restoration for Shuangyang River, a catchment northeast China's Jilin Province. Constructed structures include the Heidingzi reservoir, artificial wetland for treating wastewater from rural households, husbandry of livestock and poultry and discharge from paddy fields, and sluice gates and weirs for retaining, reducing and treating pollutants in rivers.

The deserted lowlands of irrigated areas, as well as the existing water conservancy facilities, are fully utilized to dramatically cut the cost. The project also combines ecological engineering and ecological measures to reduce diffuse source pollution in rural area, improve the local ecological environment and generate economic benefits for the villagers.
