IWHR develops guidelines on groundwater vulnerability evaluation
Time: 2016-02-24 | Hits:

IWHR has completed a research project on groundwater vulnerability evaluation by the end of 2015 with an outcome report on the progress of relevant work in China.

Multiple issues such as models, indicators, standards, application scale and existing problems for groundwater fragileness evaluation by different districts were discussed in the report in addition to case studies, and a draft guideline was proposed for practical use. This research is of great significance for improving groundwater protection and government administration of China.

Groundwater is an important source of water supply in China. Hence the evaluation of groundwater fragileness is very important for its protection. Due to the lack of relevant technical standard in this field, the research is funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China.
