Japan Conservation Engineers Co Ltd CEO visits IWHR for cooperation in disaster mitigation

Japan Conservation Engineers Co Ltd. (JCE) CEO Hiroshi Tsuji visited IWHR on May 11, 2017, met with IWHR President Kuang Shangfu and talked about future technical exchange and cooperation.

Dr. Kuang welcomed the visiting Japanese delegates, and congratulated on the cooperation between JCE and IWHR on disaster mitigation. He then briefed the attendants on the progress and achievement the institute has made in recent years in fields of sediment and river management, disaster prevention and mitigation, ecological restoration, etc. The president said he hoped both sides could, based on the existing cooperation, expand the areas for cooperation, in particular in the fields of disaster mitigation.

Mr. Tsuji expressed his gratitude for the invitation and hospitality of IWHR. He said JCE, with a half century of development, has made fruitful achievement in disaster prevention and mitigation, accumulated rich experience from disasters such as the Fukujima tsunami and the Hanshin earthquake, and made progress in the areas of rock reinforcement, soil improvement, drone, nuclear pollution treatment, etc. The CEO said he looked forward to cooperation with IWHR in these new technologies so as to jointly promote the development of water-related disaster forecast, monitoring and restoration.

Both sides also exchanged viewpoints in future cooperation.
