President of International Association for Hydro-Environment and Engineering Research (IAHR) Prof. Peter Goodwin, Prof. Joseph Hun-wei Lee from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Robert Twilley from Louisiana State University visited IWHR and met with Dr. Kuang Shangfu during November 20-24, 2016 before attending the International Workshop on Tidal Wetland Protection and Restoration jointly hosted by IAHR and IWHR in Beijing.

Dr. Kuang in particular thanked Prof. Goodwin and Prof. Lee for their great efforts in promoting the cooperation and exchange between IWHR and IAHR, as well as the establishment and operation of IAHR Beijing Office. He promised IWHR would continue, as always, its support to this office that has now been steadily and efficiently on track.

Prof. Goodwin thanked Dr. Kuang for the support, recognized the achievements the office has made, and expressed his expectations for future cooperation.

The International Workshop on Tidal Wetland Protection and Restoration was held on November 21 with about 70 participants from over 30 Chinese organizations. Nine reports were made on theories, modelling and analysis methods, engineering practices, and information technology application of wetland protection and restoration.

Prof. Goodwin also attended the 2016 Workshop on High-Level Professionals and gave a report at the English Session of IWHR’s 13th Seminar for Young Scientists and Engineers.
