IWMI President Jeremy Bird visited IWHR on September 22, 2016 to advance the implementation of the bilateral MOU, which was signed in 2014.
IWHR President KUANG Shangfu warmly received Mr. Bird. He reviewed the two sides' active and fruitful cooperation since the signing of MOU and suggested deepening and strengthening the bilateral cooperation in collaborative research, regular exchange of scholar visits and joint organization of workshops as well as capacity building activities, so as to share knowledge and experience, enhance mutual trust and promote common development.
Mr. Bird appreciated the great hospitality of IWHR. He expressed his great interest in the hot issues in China and abroad including the sustainable management of groundwater, efficient use of agricultural water, water quality and eco-environment. He said that it requires the participation, communication and cooperation of all stakeholders to rise up to these challenges.
IWHR Chief Engineer GAO Zhanyi presided over the technical communication. The two sides discussed upon the technical route, time frame, and experience sharing and activity organization of the ongoing cooperative project.
