教授简介：

Márcio de Souza S. Almeida

Full Professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, UFRJ, BSc (1974) and MSc (1977) at UFRJ.

PhD Cambridge University (1984).

Based at COPPE Graduate School of Engineering, UFRJ where he was Head of the Civil Engineering Department (1995 – 1997)

Visiting researcher in a number of universities: Oxford University (1986-1989) Cambridge University (1993-1996); Univ. Western Australia (2002); IFSTTAR, France (2011), ETH, Switzerland (2012).

Board member Geotechnique Letters and ICE- Ground Improvement.

Recipient of Terzaghi & José Machado Awards from the Brazilian Geotechnical Society, “Coulomb Lecturer in 2015” for the French Geotechnical Society, CFMS.

His main topics of interest are Soft Clay Engineering, Ground Improvement, Marine Geotechnics and Physical Modelling.

Maria Cascão Ferreira de Almeida

 Teaching and Research Activities: Professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) where she got her BSc (1975) and DSc (1997) and is now Head of the Structural Design Program of the Department of Structures.

MPhil (1984) at The Polytechnic of Central London (UK).

 Visiting Researcher: Italy (ISMES) – 1991-1992; Univ. Western Australia (2002); IFSTTAR, France (2011), ETH-ZURICH, Switzerland (2012) and at the Laboratoire 3SR de l’Université Joseph Fourier, Grenoble, France (2015).

Main topics of interest (teaching, research and consulting): Numerical Analyses (Static and Dynamic), Soil-Structure Interaction, Ground Improvement, Marine Geotechnics and Physical Modelling, Seismic Analyses, Seismic Hazard Evaluation and Cracking of Concrete Structures.

Intensive consulting activities: NORONHA and PROMON, in Brazil; ISMES, in Italy.
