In his opening speech, Dr. Felix Reinders emphasized the importance of the“Belt and Road”as a well-established exchange platform. Parties should further enhance innovation and collaboration of irrigation and draining technologies and safeguard global water safety through promoting sustainable development in rural areas.

Dr. NI Wenjin pointed out that China has gained rich experience solving its own water-related problems, and is willing to jointly explore solutions for irrigation and drainage problems in agriculture, further technical cooperation, knowledge exchange and technological innovation, thus to fuel the green irrigation and drainage, with countries along the “Belt and Road”.

Dr. KUANG Shangfu indicated the trend that the target of irrigation and drainage technologies will shift from just single water treatment to a combination of water and food, energy, ecology, etc., to further establish a modern system of green irrigation and drainage. With a more open and cooperative vision and motivate by technological innovation as well as the idea of green development, IWHR will make greater contribution in irrigation and drainage for a better future of all mankind.
