Regulation and Control of Water and Sediment in the Yellow River and Modeling of River Channel on I
Time: 2008-07-11 | Hits:

The Yellow River is among the rivers that are most difficult to harness. The salient features of the Yellow River are: less water, more sediment, and no coordination between water and sediment processes. China Ministry of Science and Technology has listed 揟he Corresponding Relationship between Different Processes of Water and Sediment and the Regulation of River Bed on Lower Reaches of the Yellow River? as a national scientific and technological key subject of the 11th Fiver-Year Period Plan, and the Yellow River Conservancy Commission is conducting 揜esearch on Measures to Model Medium Water River Channel on Lower Reaches of the Yellow River?, which has been listed as the research subject of the strategies of harnessing the lower reaches of Yellow River.

(1) Variation of water and sediment processes and functions of flood process on lower reaches of the Yellow River

(2) The Corresponding Relationship between features of the cross section and flood process on lower reaches of the Yellow River

(3) The harnessing strategies of the river course and regulation of water and sediment on lower reaches of the Yellow River

(4) Influences on modeling and maintaining medium water river channel on lower reaches of the Yellow River by the regulation of water and sediment of Xiaolangdi Reservoir

(5) Efficient sediment transport and its application of the river course on lower reaches of the Yellow River

The results of this project have been applied to the practices of the planning and design of the river course on lower reaches of the Yellow River, of the process of regulation and control of water and sediment of Xiaolangdi Reservoir and of modeling the river channel on lower reaches of the Yellow River, producing sound social, economic and environmental benefits.
