The Hydraulic Machinery Laboratory of IWHR

The Hydraulic Machinery Laboratory of IWHR is an independent laboratory. It also is an important part of “Central of hydraulic equipment test for hydropower station”, CNCA. There are three universal high accuracy test rigs for model hydraulic machinery in it, and can be used for the test and research of water turbine, pump and pump turbine. The three test rigs are equipped with high accuracy calibration system, high performance data acquisition and processing system, PLC control system. The measuring accuracy of experimental parameter and the operating stability satisfy the the requirements of related codes of IEC and GB.

Main operation domain

1) Conventionality test: Efficiency test, Cavitation test, Runaway speed test, Pressure fluctuation test, Winter-Kennedv test, etc.

2) Forces characteristic test:  Axial thrust test, Radial thrust test, Guide vane torque test and Runner blade torque test (Kaplan turbine).

3) Four quadrants test for pump-turbine.

4) Flow pattern observation and flow field measurement for hydraulic machinery.

5) Besides upwards functions, TP3 test rig is designed for the performance test of turbine and pump -turbine in sand-water two-phase flow condition (sediment content 0~200 kg/m3).

The highest test head can achieve 150m, and the maximum flow is 2.2m3/s.the total error of model efficiency test of the test rig is less than 0.2 %.
