Division of Numerical Simulation
Time: 2019-07-02 | Hits:

The tasks of the Division of Numerical Simulation mainly focus on the study and application of mathematical models for the sediment transport in rivers, reservoirs, estuaries and offshore zones. The research fields cover the fluvial river processes, reservoir sedimentation and control, deposition in approach channels, bed variation in estuaries and offshore zones, and the stability of water intakes. Currently, the Division has nine professional researchers, including one academician, three professor-level senior engineers. Academician Han Qiwei is the general adviser of the Division. The Division has undertaken many state- and ministry-supported research projects, including projects from the National Key Technology R&D Program, the National Basic Research Program (973 Program), and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The completed research projects include the sedimentation and operation modes of the Three Gorges Project, the downstream channel bed variations of TGP, the sedimentation in Sanmenxia and Xiaolangdi Reservoirs and the channel bed variation in the Lower Yellow River, etc.

Over the past several decades, the Division has gained many State- and Ministry-level awards, including the National Awards for Science and Technology, the National Awards for Natural Science, and Dayu Awards for Water Science.
