Division of Sediment Disaster and Prevention
Time: 2019-07-02 | Hits:

The research fields of the Division of Sediment Disaster and Prevention are mainly focused on the followings: the formation mechanism and prevention measures for nature disasters such as debris flows, collapse and landslide; and the dynamic character and the practical application of hyper-concentration flows. TheDivision has accomplished dozens of important projects since 1993, including research projects sponsored by the Nation and Ministries, international cooperation projects, and provincial and municipal projects. For example, there are the National Key Science and Technology Project during the Eighth Five-year Plan Period: “Study on the phenomena and mechanism of the special fluvial processing in the hyper-concentration flows"; the project supported by National Nature Science Foundation of China (NSFC): “Mechanism of the break of the natural dam and prediction of the debris flow and flood" in 1995; the Sino-Japan Technology Cooperation Programs: “Mechanism of the collapse of the slop surface" in 1996; the National Key S&T Project in the Ninth Five-year Plan: “Study on the formation mechanism of the river sediment disaster and its prevention " in 1998; NSFC supported Project: “Interactions between the debris flow and the main flows" in 1999;"Physical model test of debris flows in Futang dam gully and its prevention” in 2000; the Key Project of the Ministry of Water Resources: “Risk and dangerous embankment river treatment and rebuild technology and its application of flood destruction engineering” in 2001.
