The Laboratory of Hydro-project Sedimentation covers an area of 2,200m2. The Lab has variable slope glass flumes, a clear water reservoir with a capacity of 400m3, two sets of muddy water agitating and supply systems with capacity of 200m3 each, wave and tide generation system, surface velocity measurement system, and pipeline sediment concentration measurement, 2-D electromagnetic velocimeter, automatic topographic plotter, water-stage recorder and other advanced equipments.
The Lab is mainly engaged in researches on basic characteristics of the flow and sediment transport and sediment problems of hydroprojects. A number of researches have been carried out by the Lab, such as the hydraulic structure layout and test of water intake and sediment control for Xiaolangdi project, Liujiaxia Hydropower Station, Taishan Power Plant, Liaoning Hongyan River Nuclear Power Plant etc., as well as the physical model test on sediment issues in the regulation of the Yellow, Weihe and Luo Rivers, and in the head works of north diversion channel in Heilongjiang Province.
Physical model test for Xiaolangdi Reservoir sedimentation
Physical model test on the confluent region of the Yellow, Weihe and Luo Rivers
2-D electromagnetic velocimeter for muddy flows
Physical model test on sediment problems in water intake and drain of Taishan Power Plant
