Abstract: Based on DRASTIC model and summarization of concepts of groundwater vulnerability, two evaluation-index systems of groundwater pollution vulnerability and quantity vulnerability, are established in this paper respectively. Taking groundwater in Tongliao Plain of Inner-Mongolia as the study object, this research has selected 6 indices of depth of water table, net recharge, aquifer permeability coefficient, soil media, aquifer thickness and land-use type to represent groundwater pollution vulnerability. In the meantime, 4 indices of exploitable intensity, difference of net discharge module and actual exploitable module, aquifer thickness and specific yield, are selected to represent groundwater quantity vulnerability. The groundwater vulnerability evaluation for the Tongliao Plain is conducted based on the ArcGIS spatial analysis and the estimation of index weight by the SPSS software. The result indicates that the groundwater pollution vulnerability is generally poor, with areas of class III and class IV accounting for 76.5% of the total area. The groundwater quantity vulnerability is in a moderate-high level, with the areas of class III and class IV accounting for 72.9% of the total area.

Key words: pollution vulnerability; quantity vulnerability; evaluation index; weight; Tongliao Plain
