Research on groundwater functional division in Songliao River Basin of Inner Mongolia

Abstract: Referring to7Technical Outline for Groundwater Functional Zoning8, Songhuajiang-Liaohe River catchment in Inner Mongolia is divided into two types of fundamental functional zones: development zones and protection zones, according to the groundwater distribution and present situation of development and utilization. Then, based on the leading function of groundwater, the studying area is further divided into 4 types of secondary level function areas: centralized water source area, distributed development area, groundwater water conservation area and the ecological fragile area, with a total of 298. This paper mainly introduces the reason for the classification of the over-exploitation area in Yuanbaoshan and Tongliao Horqin and other 65 groundwater source into centralized water source area; Then, according to the classification results, the paper finally put forward several measures for groundwater protection, e.g. increasing the density of monitoring wells, water source protection and remediation of contaminated groundwater, to provide reference for reasonable utilization and protection of groundwater.
