Abstract: The Grand Canal of China has been listed to apply for Cultural Heritage in 2014, and both water conservancy and cultural heritage department are preparing protection plan. This paper analyses the unavoidable conflicts between water administration, project administration and cultural heritage protection in future, because of different management objectives and points out the urgency to establish relevant law and complete existing management system to protect and utilize ancient water project in use. This paper itemizes typical cases and advanced experience at home and abroad, and then suggests completing and innovating the management of water projects of the Grand Canal.
