Abstract: In order to complete dam-break flood hazard assessment rapidly and conveniently, one-dimensional dam-break flood analysis system is presented by integrating dam-breach model, one-dimensional dam-break flood simulation model and GIS technology. The dam breach model includes three algorithms respectively for completely instantaneous, partially instantaneous and gradual destruction scenarios. The HLL scheme most popular in dam-break flood simulation is used to establish the dam-break flood simulation model, which can deal with discontinuities and mixed flow regimes well. The system has a good function in dealing with the terrain data, parameter settings and result presentation. It has been applied to simulate the Malpasset dam-break flood and the results indicate that the one-dimensional dam-break flood analysis work can be conveniently, rapidly and accurately completed. At last, the system was used to analyze the dam-break scenario of Egongjing reservoir and it can provide valuable information for flood control department.
