The IWHR Annual Report (Hereafter referred to as “the Report”), a yearly released series highlighting IWHR’s endeavors and achievements of the year, is an important window for IWHR to connect with the international community by sharing its latest research development, technical innovation, projects undertaken and its institutional culture. Started from 2014 and constantly improved in the past years, the Report has become IWHR’s featured product that enables the world to know more about China’s water science and technology, water stories and water culture, and has received wide acclaim from international friends and partners.
In 2020, two of IWHR’s key disciplines -- engineering and environment/ecology --were listed as the top 1% of the ESI global rankings. IWHR also ranked the 3rd in the list of water security think tanks of the Global Think Tank Report 2020. Domestically, IWHR was included in China’s top 30 innovative research institutions. With its steadily increasing annual budget hitting 1.82 billion RMB ($284 million) in 2020, IWHR has entered a new stage of development and is marching forward firmly to its objective of becoming one of the top water research institutions in the world.
