Dr. PENG Jing extended an opening speech. She recalled the past eight sessions of the Youth Camp, which were precious opportunities for the participants to harvest friendship, learn from each other and create warm memories. This 9th session, held online due to the pandemic, is like a “cross-strait cloud”, connecting the young people from both ends of the cloud. With this new camp mode, the academic and cultural exchange between the two sides is sure to be an exceptional one.

Prof. Liu Hongren, the representative of the teaching staff from Taiwan University, expressed his warm congratulations on this first online camp. He agreed with Dr. Peng Jing that the annual exchange activity is a precious opportunity for young water professionals to share knowledge, spark ideas and enhance friendship. He encouraged the students to fully enjoy themselves in this meaningful activity.

Although the campers cannot meet each other in person, the elaborately designed and well-organized activities still gave them a memorable and fruitful day.  They learned new knowledge from academic lectures, took a virtual tour to water engineering projects, had heart-to-heart talks on campus life and future career, and even held an online gourmet treat.

The Cross-Straits Youth Camp on Water aims to establish an exchange mechanism for young water talents. It has been held for nine years in a roll.
