On May 23, 2018, International Hydropower Association (IHA) CEO Richard Taylor and the board members of the international organization visited IWHR and were warmly received by IWHR President Kuang Shangfu. The two sides discussed  hydropower development, IHA board meeting and further cooperation between IWHR and IHA.

Dr. Kuang Shangfu congratulated the guests on the successful conclusion of the Beijing Forum on Hydropower and Future Energy Systems, which was held during May 21-22, 2018 in Beijing, as well as the 76th board meeting on May 23. The President thanked IHA for its long-time support to IWHR, in particular the opportunity of world hydropower congress IHA provides every two years for IWHR researchers to participate in international exchange and cooperation. He also promised to further build the capacity of the IHA China Office, which is hosted by IWHR, increase the support to IHA headquarters, organize or sponsor IHA-related international conferences and activities, make greater efforts in promoting win-win development and contribute to the sustainable development of global hydropower industry.

Mr. Taylor expressed his congratulations to IWHR on the fruitful achievement the institute has made in the water resources and hydropower sectors, as well as his gratitude for IWHR’s support and participation to IHA activities, including its China Office. He said hydropower will be playing an increasingly important role in future energy system, and that he looked forward to closer cooperation with IWHR to jointly promote sustainable hydropower development.
