Hungarian Ministry of Interior visits for water cooperation

Mr. Peter KOVACS, Director General of River Basin Management and Water Protection, Hungarian Ministry of Interior, visited IWHR with his delegation on April 10, 2018. The two sides conducted talks on water resources cooperation and exchange.

IWHR President, Dr. Kuang Shangfu, received the delegation and applauded Hungary’s role in actively practicing and advancing sound global water governance and UN SDGs on water. The Budapest Water Summit, Dr. Kuang mentioned, has become significant platform for global water cooperation. IWHR stands ready for deeper and more concrete cooperation with Hungarian water colleagues.

Mr. Kovacs appreciated the warm welcome from IWHR. He introduced the purpose of their China visit, and talked about the institutional arrangement of Hungary in water management. Mr. Kovacs briefed on the upcoming 3rd Budapest Water Summit in October, 2019 and extended invitations to IWHR for participation.

The two sides exchanged views on the Danube river basin management, the EU Water Framework Directive, sediment transport, etc.

The delegation also visited the automated monitor, 3D simulation, and water quality monitor laboratories of IWHR.
