World Water Council executive director visits IWHR to promote further collaboration

Mr. Tom Soo, executive director of World Water Council (WWC) paid a visit to IWHR on February 7, 2017 to promote further collaboration. He was warmly received by IWHR President Dr. Kuang Shangfu and Vice President Dr. Peng Jing. The two sides discussed on furthering collaborations between WWC and IWHR.

Dr. Kuang thanked Mr. Soo for visiting IWHR at the dawn of the Chinese new year. He then briefly introduced active bilateral collaborations in such areas as mutual visits, forum attendance and mission support, and highly acknowledged the role of WWC in advancing better governance of world water affairs. Dr. Kuang expected to have further and deeper collaborations between the two sides with the support of Mr. Soo and make fresh contributions to a sustainable water future.

Mr. Tom Soo thanked IWHR for its hospitality. He brought an update about the main agendas WWC currently is involved, including climate change and urban water, as well as the 8th World Water Forum to be held in Brazil next year. Mr. Soo spoke highly of the contributions IWHR has made to WWC, and wished for a bigger role to be assumed by IWHR in world water affairs by virtue of its strong edges in water science and technology.

During a tour to the Daxing Experimental Base of IWHR, Mr. Soo visited the main laboratories and met with the experts there.
