Prof. Nobuyuki Tsuchiya, President of Japan River Restoration Network(JRRN) led a delegation to visit IWHR on November 29, 2016. IWHR Vice President Peng Jing and representatives from the Division of International Cooperation, IAHR Beijing Office and Department of Hydraulics received the guests.
Dr. Peng Jing extended warm welcome to the visiting delegation. She applauded the achievement Asia River Restoration Network (ARRN) -- the umbrella organization of CRRN, JRRN and KRRN -- has made ten years since its inauguration, and reviewed what CRRN, the secretariat of which is hosted in IWHR, has accomplished in river ecological restoration. Dr. Peng said that great confidence is laid with future international collaboration within the framework of ARRN.
Prof. Tsuchiya thanked the hospitality of IWHR. He was glad to see that new opportunities to expand and deepen collaboration emerge as ARRN grows, and in particular mentioned the 37th IAHR World Congress to be held in Malaysia next year as a good platform. Prof. Tsuchiya proposed that the ARRN annual forum and council meeting could be organized during the Congress, so as to make maximum attention paid to river ecological conservation and restoration possible.
The two sides conducted deeper discussions on the aforementioned topics.
