A 10-person delegation headed by Mr. Faber Edmund Chidarikire, governor and resident minister of Mashonaland West Province, Zimbabwe, and Mr. Chitsiko Ringson, permanent secretary of Ministry of Agriculture visited IWHR on May 31, 2016. Dr. Jia Jinsheng, vice president of IWHR, received the guests and chaired bilateral discussions on irrigation and drainage, water storage facilities development in both countries.

At the meeting

Dr. Jia briefed on China's achievement in developing irrigation agriculture, water storage facilities and water transfer and diversion. Introductions from IWHR on irrigation and drainage, IWHR's involvement in ICID (International Committee on Irrigation and Drainage), and new types of rubber dam and hydraulic lift dam ensued.

The Zimbabwean delegation thanked IWHR for its hospitality, and talked about the current development of agriculture and water resources utilization in Zimbabwe, and emphasized their country’s challenge in improving underdeveloped irrigation facilities, and poor flood water management and utilization. A strong desire was issued for enhancing cooperation and technology transfer with China.

The two sides conducted lively discussions and decided to establish regular contact for future communications.
