Remote Sensing Technology Application Center

 


    The Center is responsible for the development in the application of remote sensing and geographic information system technology in water resources management sectors. It provides services, especially for the information acquisition and establishment of database in flood control and drought prevention, disaster mitigation and rescue, investigation of water and soil resources, environmental monitoring, irrigation and drainage, planning, construction and management of water projects and so on.

    The Center is also the research center of remote sensing and geographic information system technology in the sector of water resources.

    The remote sensing and geographical information system are applied to image and information processing and synthetic analysis. In the research and practical application works, processing and analysis are mainly carried out by using computers. In-situ field investigations are needed for examination and verification.

    The total staff of the Center is 14 with 2 professors 4 senior engineers, among them 4 possess doctor degree and 4 possess master degree.


   Outstanding achievements are attained in recent years:

1. The application of remote sensing to flood control
2. Investigation and mapping of soil erosion in China
3. The macro information inspecting and analysis system of resources and environment for China
4. The investigation of resources and environment for the Yellow River Delta by Landsat images
5. Investigation of sedimentation by remote sensing in Marlar Reservoir in Tibet
6. Investigation of land resources by remote sensing in resettlement area of the Three-- Gorges Reservoir
7. Experimental research of drought monitoring for Shandong, Henan provinces and the Baicheng District of Jiling Province by remote sensing
8. The information system for three flood detention basins along the main course of the Huaihe River
9. Application of airborne SAR to hydrology
10. Investigation of effective irrigation area in Henan Province
11. Establishment and test operation of professional system for flood and drought monitoring and assessment
12. Real-time transmission system of air-born remote sensing and its test operation
13. Integrated system of flood monitoring and assessment
14、Dynamic monitoring of ecology for Heihe River Basin and downstream of Talimou River Basin


The Center also provides clients with different kinds of processed images and graphs as well as various kinds of space database. The color printer equipped in the laboratory of the Center can output maps and images with the size of A0.
