Laboratory of Soil Dynamics Laboratory

The laboratory covers an area of 800m2.The main equipments include a high-pressure large static-dynamic triaxial machine with specimen diameter of 30 cm, a DTC-158 resonant column apparatus, various cyclic triaxial testing machines of inertia, electromagnetic and electro-hydraulic servo-controlled type, a dynamic torsional apparatus and a dynamic simple shear device. Besides, the laboratory has developed an in situ wave velocity measurement apparatus.
 
The laboratory has imported and developed some two-dimensional and three-dimensional programs, such as QUAD4, FLUSH, EQS, SK3FF and SK3MM, for earthquake response analyses and stability analyses of earth and rockfilled dams.
The testing and analysis works for many high earth and rockfilled dams, as well as foundations of power plants and flyash dams, have been completed by the laboratory.Many consultation work has been done on the design of new dams and the reinforcemnet of old ones to resist earthquakes.
