Laboratory of Geotechnical Centrifuge

Geotechnical centrifuge model test is a new developed testing technology in recent years. Its unique feature is its capability of testing and analyzing the deformation, stability and failure process of structures, and studying the corresponding reinforcement all at the stress states of prototype scale.

The LXJ-4-450 large Size Geotecnical Centrifuge, designed and constructed by our engineers and technicians, was successfully put into operation in March 1991. Its symmetric rotating arm with the counterweight basket at one end and a large capacity swing basket at the other, has the characteristics of excellent dynamic balance and testing accuracy. Operated by a compute system, the centrifuge is also equipped with a complete safety monitoring, trouble shooting and alarming system. Digital transmission through sliprings is used in the data acquisition system. Various transducers are available for measuring strain, displacement, pore pressure, load and acceleration of the tested model. Data collection, transmission and processing are automatically performed through the data acquisition program. Many model tests in this laboratory have proved that the LXJ-4-450 large Size Geotecnical Centrifuge is an efficient and powerful tool for solving geotechnical problems.
