of the History of Water Conservancy

Documentation store is provided for the investigation of historical evolution and scientific achievements of water conservancy over the past 2000 yeas in China. Plenty of ancient documents are available, accumulating to nearly 20,000 volumes of old-stlye thread-bound Chinese books, of which more than 200 are ancient volumes on water conservancy, being 70% of the available collection in China. About 1000 are local annals or archives, being 12% of the available collection in China. It has also collected more than 130,000 pieces of memoranda and official reports from the Qing Dynasty, which are of confidential palace memorials dealing with hydrology and water conservancy. They are well preserved in the form of duplicated films. Nearly 100,000 clippings and reference materials have been collected from major newspapers published in the era of the Republic of China.
In recent years, the documentation library has further collected several large volumes such as "Major Volumes of Si Ku Quan Shu","True Records of the Ming Dynasty". "Confidential Palace Memorials of the Qing Dynasty". It is to be developed as the Centre of Research on the History of Water Conservancy in China, which can provide better condition for historical research on Chinese water conservancy.
