Labororatory of Cooling Water

It covers a roofed area of 1400m2, in which main facilities installed are:
1. Counter-flow experimental cooling tower.
2. Cross-flow experimental cooling tower.
The above two facilities can be used for testing heat transfer characteristics, airflow resistances
on various kinds of packing and effectiveness of drift eliminators in industrial cooling towers.
3. Covered flume being used for the study of wind effects on water surface cooling.
4. Wind flume for studying the effect of thermal density flow.
5. Long glass panelled flume for studying thermal stratification.
6. Glass panelled flume for studying thermal plume in crossflow.
7. Wind tunnel for studying the coefficient of heat diffusion on water surface.
8. Flume for studying internal flow of natural draft cooling towers.
9. The laboratory is also equipped with several up-to-date instruments ,such as:
Infrared thermal video system, multi-channel temperature data acquisition and processing
system, and heat pulse velocity meter etc.
 
All of the above-mentioned equipments are used for studying the environmental hydraulics problems of cooling water and/or waste water discharged form the thermal and nuclear power stations or other industrial plants.

It can be used for measuring, recording, storing and processing 
the information of thermalgraphy on any object.

     Effective test area 16m x 8.5m; Wind speed: 0.1-2.0 m/s
   5. Left: Glass panelled flume for studying thermal plume. 
     Dimension: 24m long, 2m wide and 0.6m deep. 
     Right: long glass panelled flume for studying thermal stratification. 
     Dimension: 100m long, 0.5m wide and 0.6m deep.
   6 Counter-flow experimental cooling tower. 
     Test section:0.6m x 0.6m x 3m; 
     Water loading: 4-25m3/m2.hour.
