The Center began to be established in 1990. Having been approved by the Ministry of Electric Power and the Ministry of Water Resources in 1995, the Center has changed its name to be the Electric Power Environment Assessment and Research Centre. There are 2 professor-senior engineers, 3 senior engineers, and 3 engineers, among them, 2 have won Doctor degree, 3 have obtained Master degree, 4 have held registered certificate of environment impact assessment, issued by the State Environment Protection Bureau. The Centre has provided Environment Assessment Division and Environment Research Division, and has held registered certificate of environmental impact assessment issued by the State Environment Protection Bureau; The number of the certificate is ¡°SEAC A0228¡±.

• Assessment of environment impact for large-and medium-sized engineering projects and the post-appraisal of the environmental impact for the checking and acceptance when the project has been completed;
• In-situ observation and test, data analysis, chemical examination and processing of water environment impact for large-and medium-sized projects construction;
• Establishment and application of geographical information system (GIS) for regional environment administration;
• Physical model studies and numerical simulations for water environment of pertaining projects;
• Forecasting of impact to ground water due to the infiltration of ash water on ashery and the studies on counter measures for environmental protection;
• Assessment of environmental impact to regional environment;
• New technical development of water saving measures and the treatment of polluted and waste water in power plants;
• Studies on high efficiency comprehensive utilization of waste heat in thermal drainage water;
• Technical consultation service of environment impact for pertaining in construction items.

• The studies on estimating and forecasting the water environment capacity;
• The studies on two dimensional dynamic numerical simulation for the variation of pH values in water environment of waste water and polluted water;
• The studies on diffusion law and numerical simulation of oil film in waters;
• The experimental research on law of attenuation of remaining chlorine dispo0sal in water environment of the coastal power plants;
• The studies on estimation and forecasting methods of water environmental impact due to coal fragrants during unloading process on coal wharf;
• The studies on the application and development of GIS system in water environment management;
• The drawing up of guide criteria and specification for enterprises pertaining environment assessment.
• In view of the excellent achievements made for the electric power environment protection within the period of ¡°Eighth. Five ¡± by the Environment Assessment and Research Centre, it has been granted the honour of being an advanced collective of environment protection in nationwide electric power industry by the State Electric Power Industry
