On March 11, the International Hydropower Association (IHA) delegation led by Director Erik Solheim and Deputy CEO Pablo Valverde made their first visit to IWHR in the year 2024 for discussions about the new strategies and working plans of IHA in the coming years.
IWHR Vice President Dr. Liu Yi delivered his congratulations to Director Solheim, who has been granted the 2023 Chinese Government Friendship Award, and expressed his appreciation for being invited to attend the 2023 World Hydropower Congress where IWHR delegation was well received and had an fruitful communication with other participants.
During the Congress hosted by IHA last year, Dr. Liu made a keynote speech on China’s achievements in green hydropower development through technological innovations such as digital twinning, demonstrating China’s commitment to green, low-carbon, and circular economy following the concept that “Green is gold”.
As the hosting organization of the IHA China Office, IWHR wishes to faciliate the communication and exchanges between the Chinese hydropower industry and its global counterparts, thus contributing to the sustainable development of hydropower worldwide.
Mr. Erik Solheim applauded China’s commitment to green and sustainable development as well as the vital role it has been playing in the global energy transition. He hoped that the Chinese hydropower industry could share more technical and practical experience with other countries.
The IHA has rolled out a series of strategic measures to better serve the Chinese market in the coming years, introduced by Pablo Valverde. The association would like to provide a stronger support for the development of the Chinese hydropower market and help the Chinese hydropower enterprises as they explore the overseas market, he said.
