IWHR delegation led by Vice President Dr. Wang Jianhua attended the 17th AWC Board of Council (BoC) Meeting, the 4th AWC General Assembly, and the 18th AWC Board of Council Meeting, held in Hwaseong, Korea during July 5 to 6, 2023. Dr. Wang Jianhua was successfully elected as the new BoC Member (2023-2026) again.
On July 5, the 17th Board Meeting was organized by the AWC Secretariat and attended by representatives from 29 member institutions. The meeting reported on the new members, financial operations, member activities, 2023 water projects, and preparations for the 3rd AIWW (Asian International Water Week), 2023-2026 BoC election, and other related matters.
On July 6, AWC held its 4th AWC General Assembly Meeting, with more than 200 representatives from Asian nations, including government officials and academics, as well as international organizations such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Global Water Partnership (GWP).
During the opening ceremony, Yun Seog-dae, president of AWC and CEO of K-Water, Han Wha-jin, Minister of Environment of Korea, Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Public Works and Housing of Indonesia, and Liu Weiping, Vice Minister of Water Resources of China, delivered welcome and congratulatory remarks respectively.
The election committee was established during the general meeting, the chairman of the election committee introduced the election process, and a new Board (2023-2026) with 29 members was elected after on-site voting. The Ministry of Water Resources of China have been elected as Bureau Member again.
On the morning of July 7, AWC held the 18th BoC Meeting, on which, Yun Seog-dae, CEO of K-Water was elected as the President of AWC. The new president announced the 2023-2026 BoC election result and appointed the 2023-2026 Bureau Members.
