The Multimedia Popular Science Series on China’s Water Resources and Hydropower, co-published by IWHR and China Water & Power Press, was officially launched recently as part of the institute’s public education program.
As China’s first popular science publication providing a comprehensive view of the nation’s water resources and hydropower for adult readers, the Series consist of 14 volumes, each probing into one specific issue. The first batch published recently includes nine volumes, focusing respectively on The Great Canal, Dam Engineering, Water Resources, History of Water Conservancy in China, Hydropower Generation, Aquatic Organisms, World Heritage Irrigation Structure in China, Drinking Water Safety, and Domestic Sewage Treatment.
The rest five volumes on Water Conservation, Flood and Drought Disasters, Soil and Water Conservation, Drinking Water Supply and Safety in China’s Rural Areas, and Protection of the Water Environment are planned to be launched in May 2023.
The Multimedia Popular Science Series on China’s Water Resources and Hydropower
Starting from basic knowledge and theories about water, the Series shed light on China’s current water condition, current progress of water conservancy and hydropower development, the role of water in socioeconomic development, etc., in an explicit and concise manner, thus to raise public awareness and interest in water-related science and technologies. Multimedia content such as video lectures and animations were released as supplements to each paper book.
Each volume was created by IWHR’s author team of water experts from related fields and rigorously reviewed, ensuring the accuracy of the whole Series.
