IWHR wins the bid for organizing HIC2024

The 14th International Conference on Hydroinformatics (HIC), held in Bucharest, Romania on July 4-8, 2022, officially confirmed on its closing ceremony that IWHR will be the organizer of the 15th Conference (HIC2024) in 2024.

The HIC is an influential international academic conference initiated by the Joint Committee on Hydroinformatics, which was joinly set up by the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR), whose Beijing secretariat is hosted by IWHR, and the International Water Association (IWA). The HIC is expected to cover all areas relevant to hydroinformatics, including water management and monitoring technologies, remote sensing, big data management, hydraulic and hydrological models, impacts of climate change, environmental and coastal hydroinformatics, etc.

Starting in 1994, the HIC was hosted every two years by different continents in turn. The 14th Conference, which was supposed to take place in 2020, was postponed to 2022 due to COVID-19.

The 15th Conference would see an Asian organizer, by HIC tradition. IWHR bid to organize the event in June 2022 and won approval from the Joint Committee on Hydroinformatics. Co-hosts of the event are the Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) of China and IAHR.

IWHR Vice President Dr. Peng Jing presented online at the closing ceremony of the 14th Conference on behalf of the organizer of the next event to announce the start of the preparation process of the 15th HIC.
