Water saving and salinity control irrigation techniques for farmland and system optimization

2017-12-29

IWHR has started the research on “water saving and salinity control irrigation techniques for farmland and system optimization”.

The agricultural development in the northwest arid area is facing two major resources and environment problems, including water resources shortage and soil salinization. Because coordinated regulation of irrigation and drainage and realization of water saving and soil salinization control are the core of efficient utilization of water resources and agricultural sustainable development in the northwest arid area, the project focuses on the serious soil secondary salinization under the condition of large-scale water-saving irrigation in the northwest inland arid area to systematically carry out the study on the improvement of irrigation system performance and comprehensive regulation of water and fertilizer salt so as to break through the technical problems of precise regulation of water and fertilizer salt in the crop root under the condition of irrigation and drainage and establish the irrigation system performance optimization method and operation management comprehensive control mode for the northwest arid area requiring water saving and salinity control.

Expected research results of this project will have important significance to develop and perfect the water saving and salinity control theory and technology of large-scale drop irrigation and realize the sustainable development of irrigation agriculture in the northwest arid area in China.
